Long Distance Transmission

by Antonio Jacques - Number of replies: 2

Dear Friends;

I work with underwater Remote Opereted Vehicles. I would appreciate to know if the NDI system could improve distance and latency of FHD and 4K real time video streams from ROV to surface when using CAT6 cables.  I am buying an ENC1-V3  LikPI  encoder to ROV  and intend to use the NDI Tools as decoder.   I would like to hear comments about.

Thanks

Hi Antonio,
NDI operates over standard network connections, which can utilize either copper or fiber cabling. Optical fiber, particularly single-mode, supports very long distances and high bitrates. There are various outdoor-grade fiber options, including military-grade solutions, that might be better suited to your use case compared to a CAT6 cable.

That said, I don’t have direct experience with the performance of the ENC1-V3 LikPI encoder. Generally, I recommend opting for an NDI-certified product to ensure compatibility and reliability.
