Problem with NDI Screen Capture

Problem with NDI Screen Capture

by Serg G - Number of replies: 8

Hello,

We use NDI Tools for screen capture and playback on another PC via NDI Monitor, all within the same network and connected through a single switch.
Yesterday, we encountered an issue: the video stream started stuttering. Could you please advise what might be causing this?
Source system specs: i5-9600K, SSD, 32 GB DDR4, OS W10 64bit.

According to Task Manager, the system load is minimal. Our network runs at 1 Gbps. Could you please let us know what the minimum requirements are?

Hey there!

Created an account just to drop this nugget. I started having my own issues with Screen Capture as well and isolated it to issues with the August Cumulative update (KB5063878). Upon uninstalling, issues were resolved.

Hope it helps, and hope this gets fixed soon!

Hello, and thank you for your response. I don’t have the KB5063878 update — it’s likely intended for Windows 11, while I’m using Windows 10. Still, I tried locating a similar update and removed it, but the issue persists.

Thank you, Marcus. I reproduced the issue on another PC running Windows 11 and removed the KB5063878 update — after restarting, video playback works perfectly. Now I’ll look for equivalent updates for Windows 10.

Hi. The update to uninstall in Windows 10 is KB5063709. I hope it helps.

The downside is that it will reinstall in a few days, and you can only pause updates for a week.

Is there a better way to fix this problem?

Thank you again, Marcus — you were right. I removed the KB5063709 update, restarted the system, and everything is working correctly now. I’ve blocked further updates using Group Policy.

Hey there again, Serg!

Glad it was an update issue, sorry I didn't see the Win 10 portion of your post. Just came back to check and saw that you got the help you needed. Hopefully they'll release a new version of NDI to deal with these updates, because it doesn't seem like Windows has backed down on whatever this update did to wound the application or issued a patch.

If any NDI staff view this forum, it'd be nice if they could post regarding it, because using GPOs isn't exactly a home user option, which is what I'm dealing with.
