Android NDI HX Camera – How to disable or lock autofocus?

Hello NDI team and community,

I use NDI HX Camera on Android for live streaming, often in long, fixed-camera scenarios (church services, presentations, and live events).

I’d like to report two major limitations that significantly impact real-world live production on Android:

1) No manual exposure control
Currently, the app only allows basic exposure adjustment using “more” or “less”. There is no way to manually set or lock exposure values.

Because of this:

  • The image often becomes too bright or too dark

  • This issue is much worse at night or in low-light environments

  • Small lighting changes cause constant exposure shifts during a live broadcast

For live streaming, exposure needs to be stable, not reactive.

2) No focus lock / manual focus option
There is no option to:

  • Lock focus

  • Choose between autofocus and manual (fixed) focus

As a result:

  • The camera keeps hunting for focus

  • The image pulses in and out of focus

  • This is very noticeable and distracting during live streams

Feature request
It would greatly improve the Android app if it included:

  • Manual exposure control or exposure lock

  • A focus mode selector:

    • Autofocus

    • Manual / locked focus

These controls are essential for professional and semi-professional live streaming workflows, especially when the camera position is fixed.

Thank you for the great work on NDI. These additions would make NDI HX Camera on Android far more reliable for live production.

Best regards,
