CPU Load: NDI High Bandwidth VS NDI HX/HX3

CPU Load: NDI High Bandwidth VS NDI HX/HX3

Hi!

I'm going to setup live broadcast streaming in VMix using NDI HB Kiloview converters (networking is good dont worry)

What is more harder/difficult for CPU - 6 NDI HB sources or 6 NDI HX/HX3 sources?

The High Bandwidth NDI codec will operate on the CPU.

The NDI-HX codec will (typically) operate on the GPU.

Six NDI sources shouldn't be a problem for most current CPUs to handle. There is an NDI Benchmark tool included with the NDI SDK that will give you a performance test on how many 1080p60 High Bandwidth NDI channels a computer can handle. This tool doesn't account for any overhead, so I'd say that you want double to triple the number that you plan to use. For 6 channel NDI workflow, you want the computer to report back at least 12 to 18 channels.

My HP Z4 workstation can handle 78 NDI channels.
