Test Pattern as a service?

Test Pattern as a service?

by Greg Endler - Number of replies: 3

Is there a way to set up the Test Pattern tool as a service? I'm wanting to keep this on all the time on one of my servers, that way I know 2 things:

#1 there is always at least one good source available for testing

#2 I can use this as a sync source for other devices, sort of a house sync. At least until everything gets NTP sync available (Panasonic UE-100 recently added NTP sync as a source, which I switched on quickly). I have a GNSS locked source on my network, normally have 15+ satellites tracked for computation of the time.

I'm not aware of a way to make it run as a Windows service, but you could use Windows Task Scheduler to start the Test Pattern application automatically at system login.

Take a look at NSSM - we've used this successfully with Discovery Server to run that as a service.

Here's more info on Task Scheduler if you're interested.
