Recording Audio

I learnd there can be Audio NDI Streams in your Network, that do not have any Video at all.

I can record NDI Streams with the NDI Tool "NDI Viewer".

But why no NDI only Audio Streams? it is also a problem for other NDI Recording options.

NDI Studio Monitor (which I'm assuming is NDI Viewer) is designed to record video. Certainly, an application can record the audio if designed for that aspect.

One method, would be to use the NDI VST plug-in, allowing input and capture of the NDI audio into a DAW application.

I’m glad to hear that statement, as I don’t understand why. Why don’t you make NDI Scan Converter with Studio Monitor capture audio as well? It’s frustrating to see how an application that works so well for capturing video can’t capture audio. Another thing I don’t understand is why some OBS plugins with NDI are able to capture both audio and video, but the official tools application can’t. I believe that, without the option to capture audio, the application falls short of offering a complete solution. I would appreciate understanding better the reason behind this limitation. Thank you.

Hi Guillermo. Audio only recording is one of the features we have on our roadmap. However, we also very much encourage our community of NDI developers to build tools and utilities to handle workflows and functionality that we don't provide. If you search around, you might find something that does what you need. Thanks for your feedback!
