After updating MS Teams Client, Video cannot be captured.

Hi NDI Community,
I have been using NDI in MS Teams for some time to improve the quality of the recorded video. After recent updates to the MS Teams client, the video in my NDI tools stopped working. I only see a black window. I have tried different operating systems (Windows 11, 10), devices and NDI tools. If the MS Teams client is on the latest version, it has the same problem. 


Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Hi, can you confirm the exact version of your MS Teams? Also, have you tried reinstalling NDI Tools since the Teams update?

Hi Albert, yes, we reinstalled the MS Teams client and NDI tools. The problem occurs on all devices. If we take an old, non-updated device off the shelf... The NDI tools work fine, but after updating the MS Teams client to the latest update level, the problem appears again.

now we know the root cause of the problem. The video transmission error occurs only if it is a 1:1 meeting. If it is a classic meeting in MS Teams scheduled via the calendar... The video transmission works... If I invite another participant to the 1:1 meeting, the video transmission starts working. I understand that the 1:1 meeting is encrypted... But until the last update, We used 1:1 meetings normally...

The question is, will anyone fix it and is it on the MS or NDI side?

Thanks for identifying the use case where the problem occurs. Can you just confirm the version number of MS Teams so we can make sure to try to reproduce the issue with the right version? Thanks.

I am also contacting Microsoft Premier Support.
My MS Teams Version is below.
Version
You have Microsoft Teams version 25163.3611.3774.6315.
You've got the latest version. It was last checked on 7/9/2025.

Microsoft's backend team was able to replicate the same issue on their side. It's likely a code error. We're waiting to hear from them if they'll patch it. I'm just surprised we're the only ones who identified this issue. NDI Tools probably won't be used much in MS Teams.
